Friday Gratitude

A list of things I am grateful for this week.

My host mom told me, via my host brother, that she doesn’t mind if I bring the kitten into my room for short periods. (Her concern is that the kitten might go to the bathroom inside.)

The other night, I was holding the kitten in the living room. My host mom came rushing in and told me to put her in the garage. My host father had just gotten home. I guess she didn’t want us to get caught. πŸ˜‰

Someone to watch over me …

I know I keep saying the view, but, THE VIEW!

And last, here is a small sampling of some people I am beginning to love. (Hannah, in yellow, was my roommate in the World’s Smallest Hotel Room. She’s funny as hell.)

I finished re-reading one of my favorite pieces of fiction, Barbara Kingsolver’s The Poisonwood Bible. It’s about a disillusioned Christian missionary in the Belgian Congo. Now I’ve started Lab Girl, scientist Hope Jahren’s memoir about her life, work, and relationship with her best friend/lab partner. I saw it at Dulles airport on the day I left for Kosovo and thought it looked interesting.

Last, here is a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Whitney. We’ve been friends for over 30 years. (I hope you’re having fun in Los Angeles, girl! Love to you from Kosovo.)

Have a great weekend, everyone,Β and I’ll post again Monday!
