Hot Shower vs. Cold Shower

One thing I’ve had to adapt to here in Kosovo is less of an abundance of hot water. In my current host family’s home, only the shower has hot water. None of the sinks do. (Which means all of our dishes get washed in cold water.)

In the picture below, you can see our shower’s hot water tank. I don’t think it has to be manually refilled, but I’m not sure.

Do you see the temperature gauge? When the red needle leans right, I know there is plenty of hot water in the tank. When it leans left, I know I will be taking a quick, cold shower, performed “military” style. I wet my hair, turn off the water, shampoo my hair, turn on the water, rinse my hair, turn off the water, and so on.
