Friday Gratitude: Hello, February

Mexican food makes me happy. These people make me happy. It was a win-win situation!

Media consumption this week:

  • I finished Orphan Train. It was a quick read. Despite a contrived premise, clunky writing in some places, and a rushed ending, I really liked the story. I also liked both of the main characters.
  • I re-watched Brooklyn (such a great film!). I think Orphan Train put me in the mood for more Irish immigrant stories.

“Homesickness is like most sicknesses – it’ll make you feel wretched, and it’ll move on to somebody else.” — “Brooklyn”

Sunday marks 8 months I’ve lived in Kosovo! That means there are only four months until:

  • I hit my one-year mark.
  • The new group of volunteers arrives.
  • I will embark on more exciting travel adventures!

This little guy makes me happy (he lives on my street). One day, he saw me and slipped on the icy road, trying to scamper away from me. I made baby-talk noisesย and he turned and ran to me. Now, whenever he sees me, he gets so excited!

I’m not sure if he’s purebred, but he must be part Corgi, given his stubby legs. I’ve had fantasies about dognapping him when I finish my service. ๐Ÿ˜ณ

Have a good weekend!
