Goddess on the Throne

Living in Kosovo, I see renditions of a terra cotta figure everywhere.

Turns out, this figure is called Goddess on the Throne, and it dates back to 4,000 B.C. It was stolen and only recently returned.

Goddess on the Throne is now on display at The Ethnographic Museum (Muzeu Etnologjik).

October 17, 2017 Update: I went to the Ethnographic Museum last week. The museum is undergoing renovations, and Goddess on the Throne is in storage. She is scheduled to be back on display on February 17, 2018, the anniversary of Kosovo’s independence.
